Meme
I got this list from dodger_winslow's post

Here I continue my effort to share more information about myself.

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well let's see.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicise those you intend to read (as in the book is bought and sitting on my shelf).
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) <strike>Strike out</strike> the ones you thought SUCKED.

SUCKED is such a strong word, lets say ones I was greatly disappointed in. For me that means I did not like to overall point the story seemed to be making, or I was in a really bad mood when I read them

1.
Hey Look I Update

Sorry for the 8 months of silence I fell back to my lurking ways.
This fandom really helped me through a very hard transition year, and all the wonderful writing has inspired me to do something creative, in my own way.
I have returned and now bring gifts.

As seen in my profile (also updated) I’m not much of a writer, but over the last year caring for my grandmother I’ve spent my time learning how to cook (also my TV is in the kitchen). So for my contribution to fandom I bring you…

Episode Inspired Recipes

Pilot

Sweet Mary Milk
(This is actually a drink I liked to make during cold winter nights, its warm sweet milk with a spicy and alcoholic kick.)

Ingredients
Milk
Kalua
Cayenne Pepper
Cinnamon

In a heavy bottom pot sprinkle in equal amounts Cayenne Pepper and Cinnamon (about 2 or 3 shakes each). Warm the spices slowly with stove on low and meanwhile fill the mug you are going to use ¾ of the way with milk. When the spices are warm add the milk to the pot and heat slowly stirring constantly until it is heated to steaming (don’t allow it to boil). In the bottom of the mug put a splash or two of Kalua (just not more then ¼ of the mug). When the milk is steaming pour it in to the mug.

&

Sweet Jess Cookies
(These cookies are inspired by the end of the pilot, mixing the sweet cookies with the hot smoky sensations of the fire. They also tie in to the Llorona story that inspired parts of the mythology of this episode because the tradition of mixing chiles and chocolate originates from the same culture and geographic region as the this story)

Ingredients
Peanut Brittle
(The source of this recipe from here http://www.fudgemail.com/peanut_brittle.htm)
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 cups sugar
1/4 cup water
1 cups peanuts
1/2 tsp liquid smoke
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tbsp butter

In a thick bottom pot place corn syrup and water and put over medium-high heat warm till just before it boils and add sugar. Let it come to a full boil and stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon.
Using a candy thermometer heat the mixture until it reaches 250 degrees F. In the meantime measure out the peanuts and sprinkle them with the liquid smoke. When 250 degrees F is reached add the peanuts and salt. Stir the mixture and allow it to return to a boil.
Keep the mixture heating still intermediately allowing the peanuts at the bottom of the pot to toast, but not burn. You should be able to smell the peanut toasting a bit, but this stage takes patients. (For more advice on this step go to the wed site cited for this recipe above).
At 300 degrees F remove the pot from the heat and immediately add the butter and vanilla. Stir until the butter is melted then sprinkle the baking soda over the mixture. and stir again.
Quickly pour the mixture evenly on to a buttered cookie sheet. Allow mixture to cool and flip off the pan and wack with a heavy metal spoon to break in to small pieces.
You will only need half the batch of brittle produces for the cookies so you can store the rest.

Chocolate
2 oz baking Chocolate
4 oz. semi-sweet Chocolate
1 tbsp Cayenne Pepper
1 tbsp Cinnamon

Break the chocolate in to smaller pieces and place in bowl with Cayenne Pepper and Cinnamon. Warm bowl over a pot of boiling water till the chocolate only just melts. Stir mixture and pour over buttered cookie sheet, spread evenly and put in freezer and allow to harden. Remove from the cookie sheet and break in to small bits

Sugar Drop Cookies With Oil
(I got this recipe from Joy of Cooking)
2 ½ cups flour
1 ½ tsp double-acting baking powder
¾ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup sugar
¾ cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

In a separate bowl mix sugar with oil and each of the eggs, adding one at a time and stir completely between each addition. The add vanilla and still again.

Add four mixture to the egg one all at once and stir until mixed all the way. The add ½ the batch of brittle and all the chocolate and fold it in to the dough.

Roll dough in to ½ inch balls, roll balls in sugar place on greased cookie sheet and flatten with a fork.

Bake for 10-15 min.

Comments and feed back are appreciated.

Also any advice on where to post these to share them with the rest of this fandom would be great.

I've been lurking around livejournal for a while now and figured it was only fair to join. This is all new to me so it will take me awhile to figure it out. Being a fan of Supernatural brought me here, but I'm trying to expand my horizons.
